No thanks to dumb political games – Props 15 & 16

(Early Voting for the November 4 election starts Monday (October 20,2025). This will be our opportunity to vote on 17 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution. That’s a lot of propositions!

I am working through the list a few at a time and sharing how I plan to vote.

Here are links to the ones I have done so far:

You are not allowed to take your phone with you into the polls, but you are allowed to take a piece of paper with notes.  For what it’s worth, here’s a printable version of what I have figured out so far. I will update it every time I post till it is finished.: Propositions and How ABT is voting. Thank you! – ABT)

How I Plan to vote and why:

I will be voting NO on props 15 and 16 because I think we should take governing our state seriously instead of playing dumb political games.

Here is how this particular game is played:

We know that parents are already the primary decision makers for their children according to Texas Family Code § 151.001.  But, we will propose an amendment (Prop 15) saying “parents should be the primary decision makers for their children.”  That way when you vote against it – because it is dumb and unnecessary – we get to tell everyone that you “voted against parents’ rights.”

We know that Texas Election Code already says, “To be eligible to vote in an election in this state, a person must be a United States citizen.”   But, we will propose an amendment (prop 16) saying that only citizens should be allowed to vote.  That way when you vote against it -because it is dumb and unnecessary – we get to tell everyone that you “want illegals to be able to vote.”

You know what I think is even more dumb and unnecessary than these two dumb propositions?  Playing these dumb political games.

Even if I didn’t care one bit about the other 15 amendments, it would be worth it to me to come out and vote in this election just to be able to vote against these two DUMB propositions.

Let’s use our political processes to build the Texas we want to live in – not to play dumb political “gotcha” games. Vote NO on props 15 & 16.
