Ashley Bean Thornton for Texas House District 56

We work best when we work together.

Healthy systems aren’t built by everyone thinking the same way. They are built by people willing to listen, challenge each other, and learn from each other. We work best when we work together.

We live in hyper-polarized times. We each need to take responsibility for not letting outrage-driven media and social media algorithms drive us so far apart that we forget our common humanity.

We need leaders from both parties who value different points of view, civil discourse, and practical problem-solving. We need structures that encourage collaboration instead of rewarding division.

We should watch out for efforts like mid-decade gerrymandering and eliminating minority party chairs that make it less likely people with different perspectives will work together.

Healthy systems need diversity to stay strong. We work best when we work together.
