Strong Public Schools Make us ALL Stronger.

Over 90% of Texas school children go to public schools.  Educating children in public schools should be our highest priority.

Strong public schools make our children, our communities, and our whole society stronger. If we want every child to learn and thrive, we need to invest in what works: universal pre-K, strong support for teachers, enough counselors and staff to address behavior and mental health needs, and an education that is broader and richer than what can be measured on a standardized test.

Texas should have the best public schools in the country — and in the world. But our current legislature has not funded schools enough to keep up with inflation, much less to help them become the best. At the same time, they were willing to spend a billion dollars on a voucher program, even though voucher programs have not shown they serve the students who need the most help.

I want to listen to educators. I want to learn from them what they need, what works, and how Texas can build public schools that give every child a real chance to succeed.
