If we want every child to learn and thrive, we need to invest in what works: universal pre-K, strong support for teachers, enough counselors and staff to address behavior and mental health needs, and an education that is broader and richer than what can be measured on a standardized test.<\/p><p data-start=\"211\" data-end=\"590\">\u00a0<\/p><p data-start=\"592\" data-end=\"970\">Texas should have the best public schools in the country \u2014 and in the world. But our current legislature has not funded schools enough to keep up with inflation, much less to help them become the best. At the same time, they were willing to spend a billion dollars on a voucher program, even though voucher programs have not shown they serve the students who need the most help.<\/p><p data-start=\"592\" data-end=\"970\">\u00a0<\/p><p data-start=\"972\" data-end=\"1143\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">I want to listen to educators.
